While David E. Nichols was conducting a research on non-neurotoxic analogs of MDMA, he synthesized and discovered 6-APDB, as well as 5-APDB, in the early 1990s, but was tested and written about by another well-known scientist in the drug world, Alexander Shulgin. This substance, in animal studies, was discovered to substitute for MBDB, a class of drug known for its closely related chemical analog to MDMA.
Coming in a crystalline solid and is available in pellet and powder, 6-APDB is formally recognized as 2, 3-dihydro-α-methyl-6-benzofuranethanamine, an analog of the psychedelic drugs, including 6-APB and MDA and is also called 6-(2-Aminopropyl)-2, 3-dihydrobenzofuran, EMA-3 and 4-desoxy-MDA. As said, the RC can substitute for MBDB and can block serotonin reuptake, with values IC50 = 322 nM, stronger than norepinephrine and dopamine by rat synaptosomes. Its CAS # 1281872-58-9,purity ≥95% when sold, formula weight 213.7 and molecular formula C11H15NO • HCl and can last up to two years when kept in a room temperature at 20°C.
And for some experience report we found ‘GentlemanTom’ who met a stranger he called ‘Mr. X’ that eventually shared his story about 6-APDB. He dosed 90 mg orally and then 30 mg insufflated (divided into two bumps). And based on the overall experience, Mr. X noted that the compound caused him strong euphoria (though different from others with its lightness), more energy as compared to 6-APB, minimal to none of body load, pleasant effects, increased empathy, enhanced music appreciation, feeling of affection, tenderness and sexual arousal and enhanced visuals (vivid colors).
On the down side, he reported of temperature changes and little of nystagmus, among others. But in general, he was contented with his experience of this experiment and revealed that the compound is one of the better ones he had researched, but said it might be best used in a private party or before going to a club.
Main effects include either closed or open eye visuals, with color enhancement, but not as encompassing (probably would increase as dosage does), change in time perception, euphoria and heightened senses. Overall, it’s still a very new substance, so research and studies on its pharmacological and toxicological properties are yet to be concluded, paving the way for researchers and scientists to discover more of its potential uses in the future.
